Barber

April 9th, 2006 by lovejoypeacepatience

A man went to a barber shop to have his hair and his beard cut as always. He started to have a good conversation with the barber who attended him. They talked about so many things and various subjects.

Suddenly, they touched the subject of God. The barber said: "Look man, I don’t believe that God exists as you say so."

"Why do you say that?" Asked the client.

"Well, it’s so easy, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God does not exist. Oh,tell me, if God existed, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be no suffering nor pain. I can’t think of a God who permits all of these things."

The client stopped for a moment thinking but he didn’t want to respond so as to prevent an argument. The barber finished his job and the client went out of the shop.

Justafter he left the barber shop he saw a man in the street with a long hair and beard (it seems that it had been a long time since he had his cut and he looked so untidy). Then the client again entered thebarbershop and he said to the barber:know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How come they don’t exist?"-asked the barber. "Well I am here and I am a barber."

"No!" - the client exclaimed. "They don’t exist because ifthey did there would be no people with long hair and beard like that man who walks in the street."

"Ah, barbers do exist, what happens isthat people do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the client. "That’s the point. God does exist, what happens is people don’t go to Him and do not look for Him that’s whythere’s so much pain and suffering in the world."

Wings Over The Mountains of Life

April 9th, 2006 by lovejoypeacepatience

Subject: Wings Over The Mountains of Life

A little boy is telling his Grandma how "everything" is going wrong:school, family problems, severe health problems, etc.

Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake.

She asks her grandson if he would like a snack, which of course,he does.
"Here, have some cooking oil."

"Yuck" says the boy.
"How about a couple of raw eggs?"

"Gross, Grandma!"
"Would you like some flour then?  Or maybe baking soda?"

"Grandma, those are all yucky!"

To which Grandma replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves.  But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!

God works the same way.

Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times.  But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good!

We just have to trust Him and eventually they will all make something wonderful!"

God is Crazy About You. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He’ll listen.  He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

TEN THINGS GOD WILL ASK

April 9th, 2006 by lovejoypeacepatience

TEN THINGS GOD WILL ASK

Ten things God won’t ask:
1…God won’t ask what kind of car you drove; He’ll ask how many people you drove who didn’t have transportation.

2…God won’t ask the square footage of your house, He’ll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

3…God won’t ask about the clothes you had in your closet, He’ll ask how many you helped to clothe.

4…God won’t ask what your highest salary was, He’ll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

5…God won’t ask what your job title was, He’ll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.

6…God won’t ask how many friends you had, He’ll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.

7…God won’t ask in what neighborhood you lived, He’ll ask how you treated your neighbors.

8…God won’t ask about the color of your skin, He’ll ask about the content of your character.

9…God won’t ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation, He’ll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.
10…God won’t ask how many people you forwarded this to, He’ll ask if you were ashamed to pass it on to your friends.

The Poem

April 9th, 2006 by lovejoypeacepatience

*THE POEM*
I knelt to pray but not for long, I had too much to do. I had to hurry and
get to work For bills would soon be due. So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer. No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They’d laugh at me I’d fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord, I came, I stood with downcast eyes. For in his
hands God held a book; It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down…
But never found the time"

Satan and birds

April 9th, 2006 by lovejoypeacepatience

May God keep you and bless you. If this doesn’t give you chills, nothing
will…this message is very true. Hope you are all as blessed as I was from
this story. I wonder how many people will delete this without reading it
because of the title on it?

"Oh, I got some cats," said the little boy.

"They like birds. I’ll take ‘em to them."

The pastor was silent for a moment. "How much do you want for those birds, son?"

"Huh?? !!! Why, you don’t want them birds, mister. They’re just plain old
field birds. They don’t sing. They ain’t even pretty!"

"How much?" the pastor asked again.

The boy sized up the pastor as if he were crazy and said, "$10?"

The pastor reached in his pocket and took out a ten dollar bill. He placed
it in the boy’s hand. In a flash, the boy was gone.

The pastor picked up the cage and gently carried it to the end of the alley
where there was a tree and a grassy spot. Setting the cage down, he opened
the door, and by softly tapping the bars persuaded the birds out, setting
them free.

Well, that explained the empty bird cage on the pulpit, and then the pastor
began to tell this story.

One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come
from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting. "Yes, sir, I just
caught the world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait I knew
they couldn’t resist. Got ‘em all

"What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked.

Satan replied, "Oh, I’m gonna have fun! I’m gonna teach them how to marry
and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and
smoke and curse. I’m gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and kill
each other. I’m really gonna have fun!"

"And what will you do when you get done with them?" Jesus asked. "Oh, I’ll
kill ‘em," Satan glared proudly. "How much do you want for them?" Jesus
asked.

"Oh, you don’t want those people. They ain’t no good. Why, you’ll take them
and they’ll just hate you. They’ll spit on you, curse you and kill you. You
don’t want those people!!"

"How much?" He asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your blood, tears and your life."

Jesus said, "DONE!"

Then He paid the price.

The pastor picked up the cage he opened the door and he walked from the pulpit.

Notes: Isn’t it funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world’s going to hell.

Isn’t it funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still follow Satan (who, by the way, also "believes" in God).

Isn’t it funny how you can send a thousand jokes through e-mail and they
spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing?

Isn’t it funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send
it to many on your address list because you’re not sure what they believe, or
what they will think of you for sending it to them.

Isn’t it funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me more than what God thinks of me.

“May I Pray for You?”

April 9th, 2006 by lovejoypeacepatience

"May I Pray for You?"
       by Os Hillman

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ~ Philippians
4:6

I walked into the office. The secretary seemed physically struggling
with her breathing and her countenance was different than normal.

       "Are you okay?" I asked.

"Allergies," she replied. "Sometimes it gets so bad I can hardly
breathe."

"May I pray for you?" I asked.

"Oh, I don’t want to take up His time with something as menial as
me. I’d rather not waste it on me. You should pray for someone much less
fortunate than me. My mother always taught us to pray at the dinner table
for those less fortunate than us," she replied. The woman was touched that
I would offer to pray for her.

The next day I told her my prayer group was praying for her. She
could not believe that I would do such a thing for her.

It is interesting what happens when you offer to pray for someone.
Offering to pray for someone can be the most genuine and loving thing you
can do for another person. It can be the one means of getting a
conversation on a spiritual plane that cuts across religious stigmas and
gets to the root of the problem-the person’s real need. It immediately
reveals your own values and sets the stage for future encounters. All it
takes is a little holy boldness to step through the door when the
opportunity seems to present itself.

Is there anything too small to pray about? Do we, in fact, bother
God when we make any request that is not dealing with only the poor in
Calcutta? Paul clearly tells us in this passage that prayer is talking with
God. It is having such a relationship with Him that we can bring anything
to His attention.

We’ve all heard the housewife’s prayer for a parking spot or other
such seemingly trivial prayer requests, but are they trivial to God? If God
is our closest and most intimate friend, then it becomes very natural to
talk to Him as you would a friend who might be sitting next to you in the car. Yes, God desires to have such close communion with you and me that we
can pray about anything-even a parking spot.
As you enter the workplace today, ask a co-worker if you can pray
for him about something. You may be surprised at what doors will open as a result.

story: Do u smell that?

March 26th, 2006 by lovejoypeacepatience

DO YOU SMELL THAT?

At the end of this story, it gives you two options.
I think you will figure out what option I chose.

A cold March wind danced around the dead of night in

Dallas

as
The doctor walked into the small hospital room of Diana Blessing.
She was still groggy from surgery.

Her husband, David, held her hand as they braced themselves for the latest news.

That afternoon of

March 10, 1991

, complications had forced Diana, only 24-weeks pregnant, to undergo an emergency Cesarean to deliver  the couple’s new daughter, Dana Lu Blessing.

At 12 inches long and weighing only one pound nine ounces, they
Already knew she was perilously premature.

Still, the doctor’s soft words dropped like bombs. "I don’t think
she’s going to make it," he said, as kindly as he could. "There’s
only a 10-percent chance she will live through the night, and even then, if by some slim chance she does make it, her future could be a very cruel one."

Numb with disbelief, David and Diana listened as the doctor
described the devastating problems Dana would likely face if she
survived.

She would never walk, she would never talk, she would probably be blind, and she would certainly be prone to other catastrophic
conditions from cerebral palsy to complete mental retardation, and on and on.

"No! No!" was all Diana could say. She and David, with their 5-year-old son Dustin, had long dreamed of the day they would have a daughter to become a family of four. Now, within a matter of hours, that dream was slipping away.

But as those first days passed, a new agony set in for David and
Diana. Because Dana’s underdeveloped nervous system was essentially ‘raw’, the lightest kiss or caress only intensified her discomfort, so they couldn’t even cradle their tiny baby girl against their chests to offer the strength of their love. All they could do, as Dana struggled alone beneath the ultraviolet light in the tangle of tubes and wires, was to pray that God would stay close to their precious little girl.

There was never a moment when Dana suddenly grew stronger.
But as the weeks went by, she did slowly gain an ounce of weight
here and an ounce of strength there.

At last, when Dana turned two months old, her parents were able to Hold her in their arms for the very first time. And two months
later,Though doctors continued to gently but grimly warn that her chances of  surviving, much less living any kind of normal life, were next to zero, Dana went home from the hospital, just as her mother had predicted.

Five years later, when Dana was a petite but feisty young girl with glittering gray eyes and an unquenchable zest for life. She showed no signs whatsoever of any mental or physical impairment. Simply, she was everything a little girl can be and more. But that happy ending is far from the end of her story.

One blistering afternoon in the summer of 1996 near her home in

Irving

,

Texas

, Dana was sitting in her mother’s lap in the
bleachers of a local ballpark where her brother Dustin’s baseball
team was practicing.

As always, Dana was chattering nonstop with her mother and several Other adults sitting nearby when she suddenly fell silent.  Hugging her arms across her chest, little Dana asked,  "Do you smell that?"

Smelling the air and detecting the approach of a thunderstorm,
Diana replied, "Yes, it smells like rain."

Dana closed her eyes and again asked, "Do you smell that?"

Once again, her mother replied,   "Yes, I think we’re about to get
wet. It smells like rain."

Still caught in the moment, Dana shook her head, patted her thin
shoulders with her small hands and loudly announced,

"No, it smells like Him.

It smells like God when you lay your head on His chest."

Tears blurred Diana’s eyes as Dana happily hopped down to play with the other children.

Before the rains came, her daughter’s words confirmed what Diana and all the members of the extended Blessing family had known, at least in their hearts, all along.

During those long days and nights of her first two months of her
life, when her nerves were too sensitive for them to touch her, God was holding Dana on His chest and it is His loving scent that she remembers so well.
